DHCD AWARDS $34K TO METHUEN HOUSING AUTHORITY
Bond funding earmarked for boiler replacement at Edgewood Development
May 2, 2006, Methuen — Senator Steven A. Baddour (D-Methuen), Rep. Arthur Broadhurst (D-Methuen), and Rep. Barbara L’Italien (D-North Andover) announced today that the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development has awarded $34,332 to the Methuen Housing Authority as capital improvement bonds for the Edgewood Avenue development. The sum will be earmarked largely for boiler replacement on the property.
“As ever, I am pleased that DHCD continues to recognize the needs of our community, especially the demand for affordable housing,” commented Senator Baddour. “Whether seniors, working families struggling to make ends meet, or simply local residents in need of housing support, people count on the Methuen Housing Authority—hopefully, these funds will help them maintain the property and continue their invaluable work.”
"I am extremely pleased that the Methuen Housing Authority has received this grant from the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development,” said L'Italien. “It is important to ensure that our citizens are receiving the highest quality of care possible and that their heating and safety needs are being met."
“The Methuen Housing Authority is a cornerstone in our community,” commented Rep. Broadhurst. “I am glad that DHCD is aware of their importance and am thankful for their support.”
